WHY WE’VE DECIDED TO INCREASE OUR PRICES!

Organic Cotton Farming
Hello Etiko Community,

We’re writing to let you know that we’ve made the decision to increase our prices across all products early in 2023. This is something that we have been putting off for a while. But there are a number of factors that have come into play over the past few years, and unfortunately we cannot put this off any longer.

The price of organic cotton, which we use in all our products, has been steadily increasing over the last few years. Prices of organic cotton have increased by 34% since June 2021 (https://www.fibre2fashion.com/news/textile-news/organic-cotton-prices-in-india-show-upward-trend-since-june-2021-281259-newsdetails.htm). Our products are shipped to us, as it’s the most sustainable way to transport cargo. But the cost of shipping has also increased by 50% in the last two years.

Anyone who knows business knows it’s been a real challenge to stay afloat over the last few years. We’ve seen and experienced first hand just how difficult the pandemic has been for businesses. And we’ve seen a lot of shops have to close down on our part of Sydney Rd.

Etiko has always tried to survive by having a lean business model. But locally, our expenses have gone up as well. Rates, power bills and having a physical store also have also impacted on our business.

Our intention has always been, and continues to be, to provide sustainable and eco friendly fashion at an affordable price. We will be setting up a program in the new year where you’ll get early bird specials. This means seeing more discounts only available to our subscribers.

We can promise you that we will not compromise on our values of producing sustainable and eco-friendly products. We are still committed to Fairtrade and making sure all our makers are paid a fair living wage. We also have a goal of being carbon positive in the near future.

We thank you for your continued support, for wearing your values, and being part of the change for a better future.
